Castleford Tigers’ pursuit of new signings is set to continue following the arrival of two additions on Thursday. The Super League strugglers confirmed the arrivals of Greece international Billy Tsikrikas and former player Alex Foster on season-long loan deals from Canterbury Bulldogs and Newcastle Thunder respectively.

However, plans are in place for further additions to arrive before August 4th, with the club confirming that work on a further addition was down the track. In a statement, they said: “The club are continuing to work tirelessly to bolster the squad for the final run-in of the campaign with another incoming player close to coming through the door in the near future.”

One player the Tigers are believed to have targeted is the Catalans Dragons centre, Matthieu Laguerre. The 24-year-old has struggled for game time with the Super League leaders this term, making just six appearances so far, and has more recently been playing for fellow French club Toulouse Olympique in the Championship.

Rugby League Live understands the Tigers did make enquiries about Laguerre and at one stage this week, a move did appear likely, with his parent club open to the move. However, sources in France have indicated that the player’s preference is to remain in his homeland and as a consequence, he is expected to continue playing for Toulouse in the coming weeks and months. It should be stressed that Laguerre was not necessarily the player Castleford were alluding to in their statement, though it did appear a move was likely at one stage this week.
