Saturday’s game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines is expected to be the most expensive since 2011.
The cheapest tickets for Saturday’s game between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines cost $676.
Seats to the greatest rivalry in college sports will be expensive this year.
The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and No. 3 Michigan Wolverines meet this Saturday, November 25th, in the latest installment of a saga that dates back to 1897.
Fans who want to see the annual matchup will have to pay the most for tickets since 2011. According to TicketIQ, the cheapest tickets for the game between the Buckeyes and the Wolverines are going for $676 on the secondary market.
This is the highest admission price in over a decade, having been as low as $120 just 12 years ago. Even in 2013, resale tickets for the game were available for as little as $80 per person.
The cheapest secondary tickets for last year’s game between Ohio State and Michigan in Columbus, Ohio, cost $380. In just one year, that is a nearly 44% increase and an additional $296 per seat.
A variety of factors could be responsible for the price increase. The winner of Saturday’s game will not only have bragging rights for the next 365 days, but they will also keep their unbeaten record and (likely) earn a spot in the College Football Playoff (CFP).
Regardless of the reason, the decision to pay nearly twice as much as last year to see the rivalry in person is solely up to one group: the fans.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines kick things off on Saturday, November 25 at 12 p.m. FOX will broadcast live coverage of the heated rivalry across the country.
