The Detroit Lions have made a few changes to their defensive front seven as they prepare to face the Green Bay Packers in their annual Thanksgiving Day game today.

Levi Onwuzurike, a defensive lineman, is playing for the first time since Week 6 in Tampa Bay. The 2021 second-round pick has recently dealt with a hip injury that has limited his practice time. He was not on the practice squad this week, and the Lions will give him a chance to make an impact today.

With Onwuzurike active, the team has inactive outside linebacker Julian Okwara. Okwara’s playing time has decreased in recent weeks, with him playing only 12 snaps against the Bears on Sunday.

On the season, Okwara has six tackles and two sacks. Isaiah Buggs and Brodric Martin, both defensive linemen, are also out.

With Aaron Jones out today, the Packers could go with a more north and south, between-the-tackles rushing attack led by AJ Dillon. Perhaps this is one of the reasons the Lions chose Onwuzurike over Okwara.

For the second week in a row, the team promoted veteran defensive lineman Quinton Bohanna from the practice squad. He had two tackles and a tackle for loss in 26 snaps against Chicago on Sunday.
