Aston Villa’s unbeaten run in the Premier League continued with another three points.

Aston Villa won their seventh Premier League game of the season on Sunday, defeating new boys Luton Town 3-1 at Villa Park. The Villans’ unbeaten run in the English Premier League now stands at six games, thanks to goals from John McGinn and Moussa Diaby, as well as an own goal from Tom Lockyer.

Unai Emery’s team qualified for the Europa Conference League last season, but the goal this season is to improve even further. Villa currently sit fifth in the Premier League table and will be confident of challenging for a top four spot, especially given that they are currently well ahead of Manchester United and Newcastle, both of whom secured Champions League football last season.

After the game, Emery discussed his team’s victory with Sky Sports, admitting that he is pleased with how things are progressing and that there is belief within this Villa side, who are’very demanding’ as they approach each match.

“We are winning matches because we are being very focused, we are being very demanding in our defensive structure, we are trying to build a team with high commitment,” the manager was quoted as saying.

“We are up against another seven teams, and they consistently demonstrate their power.” But if we work like that and go through this process, being demanding and strong, we can progress while keeping the moment we have now on the table.

“I want to go into each match focused, well-prepared, and demanding.” We played Liverpool and Newcastle, both of whom were superior to us. When we lost to Liverpool and Newcastle, I told the players that I wanted them to come here with less distance.

“We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of things we can improve on.” Tactically, try to be more consistent over the course of 90 minutes. “I am very happy, but I believe there are some things that can be improved.”

Villa’s next game will be against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.
