According to Fichajes.net, Tottenham Hotspur are reconsidering signing Ivan Toney due to Brentford’s high asking price for the striker.

The report confirms what we’ve heard from other outlets in recent months, revealing that both Tottenham and Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Toney when his ban expires in January.

However, despite the fact that the 27-year-old has become a ‘attractive target’ for many top clubs, Brentford are steadfast in their stance.

Ivan Toney is being overpriced by Brentford.

Even though Toney’s contract expires in January, it is claimed that the Bees will not even enter the negotiating table unless an offer of €70 million (£61 million) is made.

According to the publication, this price has proven to be ‘prohibitive’ for both Spurs and Arsenal, who are unwilling to commit to such a high offer.

According to Fichajes, both North London clubs are now looking for ‘negotiation alternatives’ with Brentford in order to reduce the cost of the operation.

Spurs Online Opinion

I’m curious if they mean by ‘negotiation alternatives’ that Tottenham and Arsenal are looking to include some of their fringe players in the operation.

We know Brentford can be tough negotiators, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Spurs get involved in the race for Toney’s signature.
