After losing on penalties to Luton Town in the play-off final previous season, the Sky Blues had a sluggish start to the season, dropping to 20th in the standings by late November.

However, Coventry’s form has improved dramatically since then, and they extended their undefeated streak to 11 games in all competitions with a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday.

Mark Robins’ team has emerged as strong promotion contenders in recent weeks, and they are presently sixth in the table heading into Tuesday night’s encounter against Bristol City at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues have had a quiet January transfer season thus far, with only one new signing, midfielder Victor Torp from Sarpsborg.

Robins may want to strengthen his team before the window closes, but his first priority will be to keep midfielder Callum O’Hare, who is garnering interest from Leicester City, Southampton, Burnley, and La Liga clubs, according to Daily Mail reporter Tom Collomosse.

Collomosse reports that O’Hare’s pursuers are more likely to make a move in the summer than in January, and Coventry will be praying for no bids in the coming days.

O’Hare just returned after an extended absence due to a knee injury, and he has starred for the Sky Blues since then, scoring six goals and assisting once in 16 games across all competitions.

The 25-year-old has been instrumental in Coventry’s recent improvement, offering the quality that has been lacking since the exits of Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer in the summer.

However, O’Hare’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and given he is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension, Coventry might be exposed to losing him should any team make an approach.

Robins acknowledged that O’Hare has been given a new contract, but admitted that the midfielder’s future is beyond his control.

Look, everyone is aware that Callum is out of contract, and speculation will persist until he makes his decision public. But the truth is that he has been offered a contract, and it is a very nice one. Robins told Coventry Live that he is free to decide what is best for his future, and that is all that matters to him.

O’Hare is comfortable at Coventry, and his superb recent performances do not indicate that he is searching for a move, but both the club and the player would face a difficult decision if they received a significant offer before the conclusion of the window.
