“First and foremost, we are very proud of our children. Obviously, it stinks not to get the win tonight, and we simply did not play well enough in important circumstances. Had a turnover with about three or four minutes left, and then obviously didn’t execute in the fourth quarter, so it really came down to a few plays in a game like this. But wow, there’s a lot of hurt in that locker room, and it stinks. Our youngsters gave themselves a shot to win the Iron Bowl tonight, and it will stay with us for a while.”
“Proud of how our children fought and prepared. That’s how an Auburn Tiger should perform every week. Obviously, it’s a little simpler when you’re competing in this wonderful, epic contest. However, failure to complete the task exacerbates the pain. But I’m proud of how they fought and came back, and I think they executed our strategy effectively, giving us a chance to win the game.”
“I mean second guess it, just got to play with vision and we got nine guys back there and just play with vision and make a play on the ball and knock it down and you know. He felt like he was shoved off, but I couldn’t tell, but you know mean you can pressure him and then you got one on ones and they throw it up. You can do that if you want, or you can play. I like the call. Just got to just sit back there with vision and and knock the ball down.”
“Keiontae is one of our leaders. Incredible teammate, and no one will be hurt more than him. But obviously it was, I mean, that was critical; we had a four-point lead, we had the ball with less than four minutes left in the game, a couple of first downs, and this thing was winding down.”
“Was this Koy? I assumed it was Keiontae. I will have to ask Tanner. Yeah, Keiontae must have taken his own life.”
“I do not believe any coach has the words. You tell them you love them and that they will learn from and overcome this. But it will hurt, and there is no way around it; you will have to go through the pain.”
“We did not make any changes. It was all part of our game plan, and I don’t think he threw very precise balls in the first half. There were also a couple of dropped items. You know, everything is amplified in this game. And then, you know, but I thought he played extremely well in the second half.”
