The National Football League will play their second game in Germany and their first in Frankfurt on Sunday.
The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will face the Miami Dolphins in a battle of two of the league’s top teams, which is expected to draw a large German crowd.
The Chiefs don’t need much of an introduction, having been the best team in the NFL for the past five years. The reigning champions have made another strong showing, jumping out to a 6-2 lead. They stumbled last week on the road against the Denver Broncos, losing 24-9 in a perplexing game.They’ll try to get back on track this week across the pond, but they’ll face a tough opponent.
The Miami Dolphins, like Kansas City, are 6-2 and lead their division. Their electric offense has been one of the season’s biggest stories, as they have lit up the scoreboard in nearly every game. Most notably, they scored 70 points against the Broncos in week three. Despite their excellent record, there are some doubts about whether they are truly an elite team. Their six wins have all come against teams with losing records, while their two losses have come against two great teams in the Bills and Eagles. They now have another game against one of the league’s best teams, so this will be an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate that they are a Super Bowl contender.
This will also be the first meeting between Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill and his former team. Hill has 61 catches for 1,014 yards and eight touchdowns through eight games this season. These numbers are incredible, as he is the first receiver in over 50 years to have 1,000 yards in his team’s first eight games. Hill spent the first six seasons of his career in Kansas City, including four seasons with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, before being traded to Miami prior to the 2022 season. Hill has proven that he is an elite receiver regardless of who is throwing the ball to him since arriving in Miami, as he and Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have formed an outstanding connection in South Beach.
#The Chiefs are playing their third game outside of the United States, while Miami is playing their fifth. The Indianapolis Colts will play the New England Patriots in Frankfurt the following week, in the first of two games in 2023.
Still, this week’s game is clearly the prime matchup, and it is one of the best games of the season, with the possibility of a playoff matchup. With Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle on the same field, Frankfurt fans could be in for a high-scoring affair.
