The 24-time Grand Slam champion, whose win-loss record is currently 11-4, is the first to acknowledge that he hasn’t played at his best thus far this season. He hasn’t won any titles in 2024. Additionally, he has chosen to miss a number of well-known competitions, such as this week’s Madrid Open and the Miami Open.

The three Grand Slams that remain and the 2024 Roland Garros Olympics in Paris are the tennis legend’s primary objectives, though he has made it plain that he intends to play a lighter schedule this year.

Though he made it clear at the Laureus World Sports Awards that he intends to return to the Madrid Open the next year, his decision to concentrate primarily on the major events this year has sparked concerns about his future.

“Hopefully I can play next year, I’m young and have a lot of time left,” he said to AS. “The most crucial stretch of the season for me is Roland Garros, Wimbledon, the Games, and the US Open, so I’m getting my body ready for those.”

The Olympics in Paris come after the grass-court major, and then in August the hard-court swing in North America begins.

Djokovic would stop at nothing to fulfill his aim of winning an Olympic gold medal for his native Serbia. Should he fail to realize his ambition in the Paris Games this year, he intends to try his luck at the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

If I didn’t think about it, I wouldn’t play, but I do think it is conceivable. In life, you have to always have faith that everything is possible,” he remarked.

Who knows if I’ll get the chance to participate in other games? Although I mentioned that I wanted to perform in Los Angeles in 2028, you never know.
