Despite his Friday night arrest, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is expected to travel with the team to Minnesota and play against the Vikings on Sunday, according to The Associated Press.

Thomas (30) For throwing a brick at a construction worker’s truck, shoving him, and slapping a phone out of his hand, Thomas was charged with simple battery and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

The construction worker, Luis Cifuentes, told WDSU that the fight began over where he parked his truck and had been brewing for two weeks.

“He drives up, and I see him get out, and I was like, ‘I don’t know what he’s doing, I’m just worried about my job site,’ and he walks up to this big pile of sand and grabs a brick, and he throws it at my car, and the guys are like, ‘hey, man your truck, your truck!’ ‘Oh, dude, he’s actually doing something,’ so, I grab my phone and I start recording him, and he grabbed my phone and grabbed and pushed me,” said Cifuentes.

Thomas then allegedly attempted to break into Cifuentes’ job site residence in order to delete the video. According to Kenner police Lt. Mark McCormick, he was cooperative with officers and was arrested without incident. Later that night, the Saints WR was released.

The Saints have remained largely silent on the Michael Thomas incident.
The Saints issued a brief statement stating that the team is “aware of the incident and we are gathering information.”

Thomas has been plagued by injuries in recent years, appearing in only 10 regular-season games over the last three seasons.

However, Thomas has appeared in all nine of New Orleans’ games this season, accumulating 439 receiving yards on 38 catches with one touchdown.

This season, Thomas is not the only Saints player to be arrested. Chris Olave, a second-year wide receiver, also had some issues.
