Nelson Semedo believes Wolves demonstrated character in their lunchtime victory over Tottenham.

Gary O’Neil’s men were trailing 1-0 as the game entered stoppage time, only for Pablo Sarabia’s outstanding volley to appear to have snatched a point. However, the hosts were not finished, and seven minutes into extra time, Mario Lemina finished Sarabia’s pass to secure a remarkable 2-1 victory.

Wolves moved up to 12th place, nine points clear of the bottom three and just three behind Newcastle. It also sent them into the international break in a positive frame of mind, with Semedo, who was replaced by Matt Doherty with a quarter of the game remaining, looking for more.

“I had a great time,” Semedo said on the club’s website. “I thought we played well against a strong opponent, but we stuck together.” We had been losing since the beginning of the game, but we kept going and working.

“It felt great to win this game, especially at home and right before the break.” It’s critical for those who will stay and those who will join the national team to have a good time now.

“It shows what a team we are; we never give up, so winning in the final seconds was really nice.” It reveals our personality. We won the game because everyone trusted each other, believed in the work, and stuck to the plan.

“It’s important to finish the week with a win, especially before the break, everybody goes and enjoys it, and we come back for more important games, and we hope to win them as well.”
