Callum O’Hare made his return from a 10-month absence in Coventry City’s defeat to Rotherham United.

Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare has written an emotional message to Sky Blues fans following his long-awaited return to action in the 2-0 defeat to Rotherham United.

The loss away at relegation candidates Rotherham was a setback for Mark Robins’ side, who have now lost two in a row and won only twice in their last 11 games, but O’Hare’s appearance from the bench was a clear plus.

Rotherham United defeated Coventry City 2-0.
Following a narrow defeat away at Bristol City on Saturday, Coventry were on the road again on Wednesday evening, hoping to put things right against one of the bottom three.

However, the Millers have won eight of their nine points at home this season and produced arguably their best performance of the season to take all three points.

Six minutes into the second half, Lee Peltier put Matt Taylor’s team ahead, and Ollie Rathbone sealed the victory in stoppage time.

After 13 games, last season’s play-off finalists are 20th in the table, six points above the relegation zone.

Callum O’Hare is back.
On a frustrating evening in South Yorkshire, O’Hare’s appearance off the bench was a rare bright spot for the Sky Blues.

The 25-year-old made his 2023 debut in the 76th minute, coming off the bench to replace defender Joel Latibeaudiere.

After sustaining an ACL injury against Sheffield United on Boxing Day 2022, the attacking midfielder has been sidelined for 10 months.

Coventry have been patient with O’Hare, but he clearly felt ready to play against Rotherham on Wednesday evening.

Unsurprisingly, he received a warm welcome from the visiting Sky Blues fans, and he took to Twitter today to send them a heartfelt message.

“Wow, I’ve missed you all so much,” he said. “I’m overjoyed to be back in front of you all.”

O’Hare will look to increase his playing time against in-form West Bromwich Albion at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday.

Callum O’Hare has the potential to be Coventry’s catalyst.
It’s great to see the 25-year-old back in action after missing so much time due to injury, and his return could be the catalyst for the Sky Blues as they try to turn their fortunes around.

They lost two key attacking players in the summer transfer window, Gus Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres, and are still adjusting.

If O’Hare can regain his form, he may be able to get things going for them in the final third and assist Ellis Simms and Haji Wright.

The former Aston Villa player has previously been a bright spark at Championship level, with eight goals and 20 appearances in 107 second-tier appearances, and that appears to be what Coventry are lacking.

Patience is required, but his return could be huge news for Robins and company.
