Fulham striker Raul Jimenez will be wondering what he needs to do to score this season after failing to score against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Journalist David Richardson was at the Amex covering the game for Sky Sports News.
Marco Silva’s side were second best at halftime and trailed by a goal thanks to Evan Ferguson.
The Whites were caught in possession once more, and the Irish striker made no mistake, giving Bernd Leno no chance.
Silva didn’t waste time in the second half making drastic changes to his team.
The Portuguese made three substitutions, bringing on Harry Wilson, Andreas Pereira, and Rodrigo Muniz from the bench.
It meant Harrison Reed, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, and Raul Jimenez had to step aside.
Jimenez was irritated when he was substituted against Brighton, but he made little of an impact again.
He has big shoes to fill after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s departure, but he’s not looking up to it right now.
It says a lot that his replacement Muniz came closer to scoring than he did just minutes before.
Jimenez fails to score again for Fulham against Brighton.
“Jimenez is still without a goal for Fulham in the Premier League this season and he was unsurprisingly not delighted to be coming off,” Richardson said of the £5.5 million player’s reaction when he was substituted.
“He barely had a kick today.”
Jimenez completed only seven passes and did not have a single shot in 58 minutes of play.
He failed to complete the only dribble he attempted and lost five of his seven duels.
To blame Jimenez solely for this would be ignoring the way Brighton defended against him and ignoring the fact that his Fulham teammates weren’t at their best either.
Jimenez will be disappointed that he was not given more playing time, especially given that Carlos Vinicius was not even on the bench after struggling against Chelsea.
The Mexican will be desperate to end his barren streak soon because the longer it continues, the more pressure will be applied to him.
clacks alternatives who can easily take his place.
Muniz has yet to score in the Premier League, while Vinicius has only six Premier League goals to his name.
Fortunately, Joao Palhinha is a one-man show, and his second-half goal earned the away team a crucial point.
