The Miami Dolphins’ speedy wideout continues to charge into the history books.

Tyreek Hill is in the midst of one of the most amazing seasons by a player in the NFL’s long history. At 29 years old, he appears to be getting better as the years pass.

Hill surpassed 1,000 receiving yards on the season with an eight-catch, 112-yard, one-touchdown performance in the Miami Dolphins’ win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. He is the first wide receiver in 2023 to reach that mark.

Tyreek Hill smashes his own 1,000-yard record.
Hill set a new record in the process. He set the record for the quickest 1,000-yard receiving season, doing so in only eight games. Tyreek Hill was the player who held the record prior to today.

Hill surpassed 1,000 yards in nine games in 2022. When Hill accomplished that, the unprecedented feat of a 2,000 yard season became a real possibility. He was, in fact, on time. However, injuries to Tua Tagovailoa reduced production, and Hill finished the year with 1,710 yards.

Hill has a good chance this season if he and his quarterback stay healthy. He’s on pace for 2,135 yards, which gives him some leeway in the second half of the season.

Hill is threatened by A.J. Brown.

While Hill has a historic season, A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles is not far behind. Brown now has 939 yards through eight games after a 130-yard performance against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

He has surpassed 125 yards in six consecutive games, which has never been done before. Next week, he’ll almost certainly break Hill’s previous record of 1,000 yards through the first nine games of a season. He’s also on track to break the single-season receiving yardage record.
