The Detroit Lions (5-2, 5-2 ATS) and Las Vegas Raiders (3-4, 3-4 ATS) are both looking to rebound from embarrassing Week 7 losses when they meet in the Week 8 MNF game.

Detroit was thrashed 38-6 at Baltimore, while the Raiders were defeated 30-12 at Chicago by Bears rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent.

QB1 Jimmy Garoppolo will spearhead the Raiders’ comeback efforts. He was out of the game against the Bears due to a back injury.

In the Week 8 NFL odds, oddsmakers have Detroit as 7.5-point home favorites.

In their last eight home games, the Lions are 7-1 against the spread. Las Vegas is 1-5 ATS in its last six road games.

The game at Ford Field is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday, October 30. The broadcast is available on ABC and ESPN, as well as DAZN in Canada. ESPN has announced a partnership with PENN Entertainment to launch ESPN BET, a new sportsbook. Bettors can learn more about the upcoming ESPN Bet promo code, which is expected to launch in November 2023.

Betting Trends for Las Vegas vs. Detroit
In the last five games against the Raiders, Detroit is 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ATS. This pattern is expected to continue in the NFL public betting splits for this game. The Lions have 79% of the spread handle and 94% of the moneyline bets.

The over has hit in three of the last four games and five of the last seven between Las Vegas and Detroit. In six home games against the Raiders, Detroit is 4-2 SU and 4-2 ATS.

In the Super Bowl odds, Detroit is the eighth betting choice at +1600. In this market, Las Vegas is given a betting line of +26000.

Raiders Hold Emotional Team Meeting
This week, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels held a “get it off your chest” team meeting, which he and the players described as cathartic. Prior to last week’s thrashing by Chicago, Las Vegas had won two in a row.

Even though the Raiders are thrilled to have Garoppolo back, the numbers indicate he won’t make much of a difference. He is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions thrown, with eight, compared to only seven touchdown passes. Garoppolo has a passer rating of 82.6 and a QBR of 46.7.

Overall, the offense in Las Vegas has been a disaster. The Raiders rank 30th in offensive scoring offense, averaging 16.0 points per game. They’ve only scored 20 points once in the last eight games, and they needed a safety from the defense to get to 21 points against the Patriots two weeks ago.

Josh Jacobs, the reigning NFL rushing champion, is dressed in Las Vegas. Despite this, Las Vegas ranks dead last in the NFL in rushing offense, averaging only 68.6 yards per game on the ground.

DE Maxx Crosby has been a bright spot for the Raiders this season. He’s already more than halfway to matching his career high of 12.5 sacks, which he set last season. In the last five games, he’s had at least 0.5 sacks.

The Raiders will have to deal with Detroit DE Aidan Hutchinson when they have the ball. He leads the Lions with 4.5 sacks and ranks second in the NFL with 33 quarterback hurries. The 2022 NFL Draft’s second pick also has four tackles for loss and an interception.

Prediction for Raiders vs. Lions
While the Lions aren’t nearly as bad as they appeared in their loss to the Ravens, the Raiders could be just as bad as they appeared in their loss to the Bears. And that’s with or without Garoppolo at the helm.

This season, Detroit is 4-1 SU as a moneyline favorite. In addition, the Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against AFC opponents.

Expect Detroit to come out strong in this game.

Pick for Raiders vs. Lions: Detroit Lions -7.5 (-110)
