After securing a new contract for Ebere Eze, Crystal Palace manager Steve Parish already knows what he wants to do next.

TEAMtalk reports on this.

So, what are Crystal Palace’s plans after Ebere Eze signs a new contract? Let us take a look…

What is the backstory?
The Crystal Palace No.10 is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Selhurst Park following a breakthrough in negotiations with the England international.

According to TEAMtalk, Eze’s current salary will be more than tripled to around £100,000 per week, and a release clause will be included in the agreement.

Parish is expected to focus on getting Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen to commit to the Eagles once the ink on the 25-year-old’s new contract is dry.

Both Andersen and Guehi’s current contracts will expire in June 2026, after they signed five-year deals when they arrived from Lyon and Chelsea, respectively, in 2021.

While this suggests that time is not of the essence for Parish, it appears that any discussions about a new contract are intended to reward the pair of central defenders and keep their heads from turning amid intense transfer speculation.

According to The Sun, Mikel Arteta has already made Guehi a key part of his Arsenal plans, and the club is planning a move for the England international in 2024, with Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United also interested.

Crystal Palace may struggle to retain Andersen in the absence of Eze and Guehi.
Contract negotiations are never easy, and based on Andersen’s recent comments, we don’t see things going well.

The Crystal Palace No.16 did not express a desperate desire to leave the club, but he did admit to Danish news outlet Bold that he would like to advance.

“It is clear that this summer I will be 28 years old,” Andersen said. The amount of money clubs will spend on a 28-year-old, or a 29-year-old if it is for next year, is limited, so something must happen soon. Of course, I’d like to advance, but it’s not up to me.”

With Crystal Palace lacking ambition under Parish, Josh Harris, David Blitzer, and John Textor, no one could blame the Denmark international for refusing a new contract and seeking a return to UEFA Champions League football, as he did at Lyon.
