All of the Lions
Third place in terms of power.
Previous position: third
During their bye week, the Lions evaluated their strengths and weaknesses.
The time off came at the perfect time for the NFC North leaders, as the roster will be healthier as they prepare to face a Chargers team that defeated the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
If the team can improve its pass rush and red zone efficiency, the second half of the season will be filled with victories.

The Lions were on bye just as Jahmyr Gibbs was rounding into form, and my fantasy team was desperately clinging to his bootstraps in an attempt to stay relevant. They return as a stronger unit, with their running back committee fully recovered and more diverse and experienced. If I were the Chargers, I’d be worried about getting Detroit on extended rest.

In Dan Campbell’s three seasons as head coach, the Lions have improved from 3-13 to 9-8 to 6-2. Detroit’s only two losses have come against Seattle and Baltimore, and the team ranks second in yards per game (390.6) and fifth in yards allowed per game (296.9) in the league. And this isn’t a team that has put its future on the line. According to Over the Cap, the Lions have the eighth most available cap space in the league for 2024 ($73.3 million).

“The Lions were the other feline on a bye, and they can be confident in their chances to compete with the other NFC heavyweights in the second half and into the playoffs.” But first, they must deal with the Vikings, who are not going away.

“The Lions aren’t the best team in the NFC, but they’re close.” Their loss to the Ravens was embarrassing, but we saw what Baltimore does to NFC teams again this week. Despite the humiliating loss, Detroit ranked just outside the top ten in offense and inside the top ten in defense.”

The Pro Bowl receiver was named one of six team captains for the 2023 season, building on a strong start to his NFL career. St. Brown may not be the most vocal member of the team, but his work ethic and production speak for themselves. This season, he has five 100-yard receiving games, helping Detroit to a 6-2 start for the first time since 2014. Despite being sick, he helped the Lions beat the Raiders on “Monday Night Football” on Oct. 30, finishing with six receptions for 108 yards. His teammates and the coaching staff have been inspired by his performances like that one. “That was not the best he’s felt, but like a true warrior, he just sucked it up and went,” coach Dan Campbell said after the game.

They return from their bye week with a difficult road trip to face the Chargers. In many ways, they must be pleased with their first half performance.

David Montgomery could make a comeback in Week 10. He was doing well before getting hurt, and he’ll be back because rookie Jahmyr Gibbs just had a monster game with 189 yards from scrimmage. The Montgomery/Gibbs running back combo may not be ideal for your fantasy team, but it will be an elite combination for the Lions for the rest of the season.

Jahmyr Gibbs, the team’s rookie running back, has a league-leading 132.3 yards per carry in three games. Perhaps keep him in the starting lineup despite the fact that war hammer RB David Montgomery is expected to return from a rib injury?
