Clayton Kershaw, who became an institution with the Los Angeles Dodgers and is currently recovering from a shoulder injury, was the focus of a parody account that claimed he had just signed a five-year, $100 million contract with the New York Yankees.

FaxSports MLB shared a photo of Kershaw in a Yankees uniform.

The pitcher had already signed, according to a parody account that photoshopped Clayton Kershaw while wearing the Yankees uniform and shaved his iconic beard to follow Yankees uniform protocol. “The Yankees have found their man!” According to Fax Sports, Clayton Kershaw has agreed to a 5-year, $100 million contract with a full no-trade clause. Brian Cashman on the contract: “We are always looking for aging veterans who were really good, and we always want to get players that are currently injured, and Clayton is the best of both worlds.”

Fans of both the Dodgers and the Yankees began commenting on the ‘fake news’ shortly after. “That is not correct!! That kept me going for a while. Kershaw would join the Rangers or the Dodgers. He hasn’t made up his mind.” A fan stated.

The account, however, doubled down, claiming to have the truth: “Just double-checked, it’s true.” They first informed close friends and family.”

Others considered the idea and claimed it was not as bad as some thought, as another fan remarked, “Honestly? I wouldn’t mind if they signed him for a year or two. He’s not particularly old; 35 isn’t particularly old, especially considering he had a fantastic season this year. He’s certainly declined since his prime, but he’s still a great pitcher.”

Overall, some people praised the joke, saying, “This is one of the best FAXes yet.”
