Anthony Elanga, who joined Nottingham Forest from Manchester United this summer in a €17.5 million deal, has quickly established himself as an important member of Steve Cooper’s squad.

This was on display again this weekend, as he scored in West Ham’s 3-2 defeat before departing to represent Sweden during the international break.

However, an injury has ruled out that last part, with manager Janne Andersson informing the media on Monday that the Nottingham Forest winger has been forced to withdraw from the squad, as relayed by Fotbollskanalen.

“Something happened during the game (against West Ham) that caused him to suffer an injury,” Andersson explained. The club must communicate the situation, but he was unable to contribute during the international break.”
He isn’t the only one who was injured during the weekend action; Emil Holm and Ludwig Augustinsson both suffered injuries while playing for Atalanta and Anderlecht, respectively.

However, unlike the Nottingham Forest player, they will be able to play against Estonia even if they miss Sweden’s first game against Azerbaijan.

Elanga has two goals and an assist in 12 Premier League games for the Tricky Trees this season, with the club now likely to try and nurse him back to health over the next two weeks in order for him to face Brighton on November 25th.
