Q&A: Formation change, January help and time for Sky Blues to take stock

Coventry City Q&A from CoventryLive, as Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner is available to answer your burning questions three-quarters of the way through the season.

Coventry City are one-third of the way through the 2023/24 Championship season when they take another international break. The Sky Blues have averaged just one point per game in their first 16 games, leaving them in 20th place in the division, five points off the relegation zone and ten points away from the play-off places, where everyone would prefer to see them.

A point against Stoke City last time out ended the club’s four-game losing streak, but it also extended the club’s winless streak to six games, with a trip to Millwall and a home game against Plymouth Argyle on the horizon when the league season resumes a week on Saturday. It is thus a good time for both manager Mark Robins and his coaching staff to take stock, looking at the positives, working on the negatives, and hoping that City can use Saturday’s goalless draw as a foundation upon which to build.

It’s also an excellent opportunity for fans to reflect on the season thus far. It’s fair to say that things haven’t gone as planned for most fans so far, with many disappointed by the slow start after reaching the dizzy heights of the play-off final at Wembley just six months ago.
