Wolves still have’some unfinished business’ with Leander Dendoncker.

In 2024, Wolverhampton Wanderers could be an attractive option for out-of-favour Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Sunday People chief sports writer Neil Moxley, could be an appealing destination for ex-midfielder Leander Dendoncker, depending on how much the Molineux club is willing to pay for his services.

Wolves have made a strong start to the 2023/24 season under head coach Gary O’Neil and hope to be out of the Premier League by 2024.

Dendoncker, who is currently under contract with Aston Villa, is finding it difficult to get minutes despite the Villans’ strong start to the 2023/24 season. Another question is whether Wolves would be interested in signing the midfielder.

Wolves’ midfield is looking strong.
Wolves’ midfield options have had a strong start to the 2023/24 season as O’Neil assesses his team’s strengths and weaknesses. Mario Lemina, who joined the club for £9.7 million from OGC Nice in January 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the team’s key players.

The 26-cap Gabonese international is having an outstanding season, most recently scoring a last-ditch winner against high-flying Tottenham Hotspur in Wanderers’ 2-1 victory on November 11th. Meanwhile, Joao Gomes has settled into his new surroundings at Molineux. He was regarded as one of South America’s most promising prospects before joining the Premier League club for a fee of £15 million near the end of the January transfer window in 2023.

Wolves are beginning to see more of Boubacar Traore, whose debut season at Molineux in 2022/23 was hampered by injury. The Mali U23 international joined on a season-long loan before being signed permanently for a fee close to £10 million. This season, he has already made ten appearances. Meanwhile, signings Tommy Doyle and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde from the summer of 2023 are still adjusting but have shown promise since arriving in the Black Country.

O’Neil, on the other hand, could benefit from the club re-signing Dendoncker, who would bring experience to a young-looking midfield. The Belgium international joined West Midlands rivals Aston Villa on the final day of the summer transfer window in a deal rumored to be worth £13 million.

Moxley told GIVEMESPORT in October that the 28-year-old is in a similar situation to Youri Tielemans at Villa Park in that he is unable to break into Unai Emery’s side. As a result, it would not be surprising to see Dendoncker leave Villa Park during the winter transfer window in 2024.

Leander Dendoncker provides an update on Neil Moxley.
Moxley believes Dendoncker will return to Wolves because he has “unfinished business” at Molineux. The journalist believes he could be a valuable addition to the Black Country because he believes there is a lack of senior cover in the park. Moxley stated to GIVEMESPORT:

“I could see Dendoncker returning to Wolves because he may have some unfinished business now.” I’m not sure if they’ve got coverage. But, once again, I believe he will have to work his way into his preferred position. I prefer him as a center-back in a three-man defense, but he did spend time in midfield for Wolves. When Moutinho and Neves were at their peak, he was used around them. But, in the case of Dendoncker, it would be interesting to see if Wolves could get him out for less than half the money they let him go to Villa.”
