As long as Michigan keeps winning, everyone involved with the program is upbeat and having fun in the midst of a difficult situation.

Michigan won its 1,000th game on Saturday, defeating Maryland 31-24. It wasn’t pretty, and the Terps kept it interesting at times, but a win is a win, and the Wolverines now have 1,000. Obviously, Jim Harbaugh was not present due to a three-game suspension imposed by the Big Ten, but he was not far away. It’s a shame Harbaugh wasn’t present for the 1,000th victory, but he was all smiles afterward. We know this because wide receiver Roman Wilson posted a video of Harbaugh celebrating the win with his team.

The video itself is brief and unmemorable, but the players’ commentary is unforgettable. After the game, you can hear them all laughing and happy to see their head coach, and one player even says, “He looks like a kid about to get a Happy Meal from McDonald’s.” The laughter erupts as they realize how happy Harbaugh appears and how much he resembles a child in the backseat of a car, anxiously awaiting some nuggets and a toy.

The whole thing isn’t a big deal, but it does speak to this team’s mentality. Harbaugh was not present due to his suspension, Roman Wilson was forced to leave the game due to concussion protocol, Maryland hung tough and kept things interesting down the stretch, and Ohio State awaits next week. Despite this, the team remains calm, cool, and collected, enjoying each other’s company and having a good time while innocently mocking their suspended coach. We’ve heard from coaches and players all year about how this group is like a family and how it’s a rare bunch, and stuff like the clip above proves it.It’s a minor example, but it supports what the team has been saying for quite some time. The four massive wins, two without Harbaugh, since Connor Stallion was suspended and the sign-stealing scandal became public knowledge.
