Atalanta and Roma are keeping an eye on Ross McCausland’s situation, with Rangers reportedly on the verge of selling the Scottish Premiership starlet for as little as £400,000 in the January transfer window.

Of course, they didn’t need it, but the news surrounding Ross McCausland’s future serves as a warning to Rangers about the dangers of prolonging an unwelcome situation.

Brentford are already circling like vultures, ready to pounce on the 20-year-old from Philippe Clement’s clutches, according to the Daily Record. McCausland’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and the Rangers have yet to agree on an extension.

The uncertainty surrounding one of the club’s most exciting young attackers in many years has also been noticed on the continent. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta and Roma are’monitoring’ McCausland. They will continue to do so as the winter window approaches.

Jose Mourinho’s Serie A giants are considering a raid on Rangers.
Should he sign a pre-contract with La Dea or Jose Mourinho’s Giallorrosi, the Northern Ireland international could be snapped up for as little as £400,000.

Mourinho may not have the best track record when it comes to developing young players. But the same cannot be said of Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta. Amad Diallo, Rasmus Hojlund, Cristian Romero, Franck Kessie, and Roma’s own Gianluca Mancini all left Bergamo after catching the eye of the one-time Inter Milan manager.

Rangers must extend Ross McCausland’s contract. “I’m pleased he has made the breakthrough,” Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill says of McCausland, who has been impressive in recent Rangers appearances.

“He’s a promising young player.” He just needs to keep going in the same direction. A change in manager appears to have aided him, and he is making the most of it. It’s all up to him now. Can he stay with the Rangers?

“Once you have first-team experience, you gain confidence in yourself.” He’s not a boy who lacks confidence in any case, so having him in is beneficial. He’s a confident young man who can contribute.”
