Former Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers assistant joins London Broncos for Super League comeback.

Mike Eccles, the head coach of the London Broncos, has confirmed his coaching staff for the club’s return to Super League, which includes Ryan Sheridan.

Sheridan, 48, has been Daryl Powell’s assistant coach for the last decade, having previously worked with him at Featherstone Rovers, Castleford Tigers, and most recently Warrington Wolves.

The former Great Britain and Ireland international will not be working with Powell in 2024, as Sheridan has been appointed as assistant coach to Mike Eccles, the director of rugby and performance at London.

Meanwhile, Powell will be assisted at Wakefield this season by Danny Kirmond and Michael Shenton.

“Ryan is an outstanding acquisition for us,” Broncos boss Eccles said of bringing Sheridan to Brisbane.

“He has extensive Super League experience and will bring a high level of detail and Super League IQ to our program.”

“Ryan’s CV as a coach since retiring is pretty impressive and I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring him to London.”

In London, Jordie Hedges joins Ryan Sheridan and Mike Eccles.
Hedges, who came from relegated Championship outfit Keighley Cougars, will follow Sheridan to the capital to join Eccles’ backroom team.

Hedges began his playing career for South Sydney Rabbitohs before spending four seasons at Doncaster, where he made more than 80 appearances.

“Jordie has done an excellent job in the background at Keighley over the past few seasons and has come highly recommended by our good friend Rhys Lovegrove and all of the players who have worked with him,” Eccles added.

“After retiring from a promising career early due to injury, Jordie became a career coach at a young age.”

“I’m confident that Jordie’s skill set, temperament, and coaching approach will complement Ryan and myself very well.”

“What’s important to me is that we get the staff chemistry right so that we can build the best program possible and help maximize the potential of the players.”

“Between Ryan, Jordie and myself, I believe we have the right balance to deliver just that.”

Sam Bloomer (head of performance analysis), James Hanly (head of strength and conditioning), and Charlotte Baxter (head of medical) round out the Broncos’ first-team coaching staff.
