The Los Angeles Superior Court has ordered the Dodgers to compensate a fan who was involved in an altercation with Dodger Stadium security.

o Following the senseless attack on San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow in the parking lot on Opening Day of the 2011 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers implemented sweeping changes at Dodger Stadium, including the elimination of tailgating, in an effort to improve safety.

Stow suffered brain damage that will necessitate medical care for the rest of his life. He filed a lawsuit against the Dodgers and former owner Frank McCourt, and the team was found negligent by a jury in July 2014.

The Dodgers were in a similar situation after another alleged attack in the Dodger Stadium parking lot following a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in March 2018.

As a result, a lawsuit was filed against the team.

A separate fan incident involving Dodger Stadium security occurred during the 2018 season, and a Los Angeles Superior Court ordered the Dodgers to pay Francisco Rodriguez damages, according to Steve Henson of the Los Angeles Times.

On Friday, the court assessed $100,000 in damages against the Dodgers and $5,000 against Dodgers security officer Erik Pena, who was found to have acted with malice. Several other security officers named in the lawsuit were found not to have violated any laws.

Rodriguez claimed his run-in with Dodgers security stemmed from him objecting to how another fan was being treated. The incident was captured on video, and it showed personnel getting physical with Rodriguez just inside a stadium entrance.

In addition to a no-tailgating policy at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers are quick to intervene when fans become unruly in the stands or run onto the field of play.

Changes to Dodger Stadium’s security
The Dodgers prohibited tailgating and increased lighting and police/security presence throughout Dodger Stadium.

The experience at Chavez Ravine is generally regarded as fan-friendly, and this has been enhanced by the $100 million Dodger Stadium renovation, which brought a slew of improvements.
