Gary O’Neill provides an injury update in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wolves’ Premier League trip to Fulham.

Santi Bueno, Mario Lemina, and Matt Doherty are all in contention to face Fulham on Monday (8pm kick-off), according to Wolves manager Gary O’Neil.

O’Neil also stated that Pedro Neto will miss the game and is ‘weeks’ away from returning, though there is no specific timetable for the winger’s return. Wolves will also be missing Nathan Fraser, Craig Dawson, and Joe Hodge when they travel to Craven Cottage.

“(Santi Bueno) hurt his ankle a couple of days before the Tottenham game, which was a blow because we don’t have a lot of centre-backs available, especially when we end up with three on the pitch in Dawson, Kilman, and Toti,” O’Neil said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“He’s back in shape; he’s been training with the group for the past few days.” He did not go on international duty because he would have been unable to compete in their matches. He stayed, worked with the physiotherapists, and got himself in shape. I don’t see why he shouldn’t be involved on Monday.”

“On international duty, Mario rolled his ankle, but he should be fine.” Matt Doherty has a hamstring injury but will be fine.”

When asked about Pedro Neto, O’Neil stated, “Pedro will not be present on Monday.” He has a little more work to do, so he’ll stay with the physios and fitness staff a little longer.

“It’s difficult to say because there will be tests, check-ups, and scans, and we’ll be guided by how he heals.” He’s healing very well, and he’s probably ahead of schedule.

“We’re pleased with the progress he’s made but with the nature of the injury, we need to make sure everything’s ticked off properly before he’s back with the group.”

“Hodge is doing well and back on the grass,” O’Neil added, “but it (the game) comes a little too quickly for him.”
