November 27 – On Sunday night, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the visiting Anaheim Ducks 8-2 thanks to a goal and four assists from Connor McDavid.

McDavid has now surpassed Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin in the number of five-point games played in his NHL career with nine.

The Oilers have won two straight after a three-game losing streak thanks to the contributions of Zach Hyman (two goals and an assist), Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane (one goal and an assist each), Darnell Nurse (three assists), and Stuart Skinner (21 saves).

Max Jones of Anaheim scored twice, and Lukas Dostal stopped ten of sixteen shots before John Gibson came in and finished with eight saves for the Ducks. It is Anaheim’s sixth straight loss.

Wild 1, Red Wings 4,

Detroit defeated Minnesota at home thanks to two goals from David Perron, including his 300th, and three assists from Shayne Gostisbehere.

The Red Wings, winners of three straight games, were led by Dylan Larkin’s goal and assist and Alex Lyon’s 37 saves in goal. The lone goal for Minnesota, which has dropped seven straight games, came from Joel Eriksson Ek. The Wild were 1 of 5 on the power play and outshot the Red Wings 38–23.Detroit was 2 of 5 with the man advantage.

Just 1:29 into the third period, Detroit grabbed a 3-1 lead when Perron scored on a power play, taking a pass from Gostisbehere and firing a shot from the left faceoff circle past Gustavsson for goal No. 300. Hurricanes 3, Blue Jackets 2 Andrei Svechnikov scored his first goal of the season to give Carolina, which erased a two-goal deficit in the final 10 minutes, a victory against visiting Columbus at Raleigh, N.C.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei also scored for the Hurricanes. Seth Jarvis had assists on the final two goals. Svechnikov, an All-Star selection last season, didn’t score in any of his first 11 games as his season debut was delayed as he recovered from knee surgery following an injury last season. Sebastian Aho set him up with a pass and Svechnikov delivered from the slot. Pyotr Kochetkov made 21 saves for the Hurricanes. The Blue Jackets’ Johnny Gaudreau had a goal and an assist and Kirill Marchenko scored the game’s first goal in the third period. Elvis Merzlikins had baffled the Hurricanes through two periods and ended up with 40 saves.

Blues 4, Blackhawks 2 Jake Neighbours scored twice, Pavel Buchnevich had a goal and two assists and Jordan Binnington stopped 32 shots to lift visiting St. Louis to a victory against Chicago. St. Louis capitalized on an early flurry to win for the third time in four games, with each victory in that span coming on the road. Chicago has lost six of seven. Torey Krug and Robert Thomas had two assists apiece for the Blues, while Wyatt Kaiser had two for Chicago. Outshot 10-8 in the first period, the Blues made the most of their chances with a three-goal burst against Chicago goaltender Arvid Soderblom, who finished with 24 saves. Ryan Donato and Boris Katchouk scored for the Blackhawks.

Predators 3, Jets 2 Roman Josi had a goal and two assists and Juuse Saros made 32 saves to lead Nashville to its fifth straight victory, beating visiting Winnipeg. It was the first three-point game of the season for Josi, who joined Filip Forsberg (37) as just the second player in Predators history with 30 career three-point games. Yakov Trenin and Gustav Nyquist also scored for Nashville. Josh Morrissey and Cole Perfetti scored and Laurent Brossoit made 23 saves for Winnipeg, which had a five-game win streak snapped and lost for just the second time in 10 games.
