Dwight MicNel’s goal gave Everton a hard-earned Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

Steve Cooper, the manager of Nottingham Forest, feels that his team should have been given a penalty during Saturday night’s 1-0 loss to Everton.

Dwilght McNei’s incredible goal in the second half proved to be the difference between the two teams in a tight match at the City Ground, as the Blues brought all three points home to Merseyside.

Despite having little opportunities to attack Everton in the last third, Forest felt unjustly treated when they were not awarded a penalty kick with the score remaining 0-0 at halftime.

As the home team were ready to take a corner kick, Abdoulaye Doucoure was observed clutching Ryan Yates’ shirt within the penalty area. Yates later went down after feeling touch. When considering the proceedings, Cooper found it difficult to understand VAR’s choice to refrain from intervening.

“I think the penalty that was given against us last week, if that is a penalty then the one today is,” he stated to Sky Sports.

“That’s two penalties today if you consider the one they gave against Chris Wood last week. Even though I find that frustrating, I won’t claim that it is the only reason we didn’t win the game. It’s a punishment, particularly in light of last week’s events here.”

Cooper went on to comment on the manner in which Everton scored the winning goal and the overall effort of his Forest teammates, saying, “Of course disappointed as it’s far from the result we wanted.” We gave up a goal due to a topic we spoke extensively during the week: balls into the box, second and third phases, and maintaining focus when sticking with guys. There are ultimately too many extra men in the box once the cross has been received.”
