West Ham’s prospects of signing striker Tim Steidten are boosted by Newcastle as a significant fresh report is released. Hugo Ekitike’s assertion
Newcastle has revealed a big new report that appears to strengthen West Ham’s chances of signing striker Tim Steidten. Hugo Ekitike’s claim
Newcastle must balance Champions League football with their quest to return to the tournament this season while dealing with injury and off-field concerns to important players.
Gianluca Scamacca was not replaced by a striker by West Ham manager David Moyes during the summer transfer window. And next month, that will be the club’s first priority.
If further evidence were required, recent games, especially the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, should suffice to show that West Ham needs to acquire a legitimate striker by the end of the month.
Since the Saudi purchase at St James’ Park, West Ham and Newcastle have been linked to a number of players that they are both interested in.
The West Ham manager, Moyes, said earlier in the season that he is in dire need of a new number nine and that he was jealous of Newcastle for having signed the “unbelievable” Alexander Isak.
Hugo Ekitike, a forward from France, has been associated with both the Hammers and the Magpies since Eddie Howe’s arrival.
According to recent speculations in France, West Ham may be preparing to move for Ekitike as soon as the January transfer window opens.
Two years ago, Ekitike nearly joined Newcastle from Reims as Howe appeared to have defeated Moyes for the quick-footed striker. However, the deal fell through, and Ekitike joined PSG in its place.
West Ham and the Magpies are rumoured to have been keeping an eye on Ekitike’s advancement—or lack thereof—ever since.
This season, he has been entirely locked out of the PSG lineup and is for sale.
It was said back in August that PSG, Ekitike, and his delegates met high up with West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten. And it’s said that the German’s remarks impressed the striker.
Now that a newspaper has made a significant fresh Ekitike claim, Newcastle has increased West Ham’s hopes of signing the striker Steidten met with.
As per a Football Transfers exclusive information, Newcastle had officially abandoned their pursuit of signing Ekitike.
And if West Ham can hold off Crystal Palace, that has opened the way for them.
According to the article, “Crystal Palace are considering a move for Hugo Ekitike, who is also a target for West Ham.”
According to sources, the club hopes to sign a contract with Paris Saint-Germain for the 21-year-old before the January transfer market opens, and the Hammers are also interested.
“It is almost a given that the Frenchman will depart from the Parc des Princes during the winter transfer window and would prefer to go abroad rather than stay in Ligue 1.” Although Newcastle has been connected in the past, we are aware that there are currently no plans to try again.
As long as roster space is available, West Ham does plan to make signings in January, an insider source exclusively told Hammers News last week.
The insider also disclosed that a few of the targeted players will be attending AFCON in January and February.
And Ekitike might be covered by that. because, prior to the competition, it is said that Samuel Eto’o, a legend of Cameroon, is attempting to persuade the forward to change allegiance to the African country.
