As a Lion, Peoples-Jones is still without a pass.

During the NFL trade deadline, the Detroit Lions made the decision to bolster their offensive line by acquiring wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones.

The wide receiver was able to start over in Detroit after seeing his output and playing time decline while with the Cleveland Browns. For Peoples-Jones, returning to his hometown of Detroit was also a welcome move.

Currently, Peoples-Jones’ integration into the Lions offence has been a difficulty. In his three games with the team, the rookie has only had two targets and has yet to make his first grab with Detroit.

Recently, the Lions’ receiving room has produced improved results, chief among them being the rise of Jameson Williams. The Lions are still trying to integrate Peoples-Jones into the team as a result.

Indeed, it seems to me that he was always present in the room. He is a component of our contents there. Josh Reynolds and (Amon-Ra St. Brown) Saint have our utmost trust. Jameson Williams, aka Jamo, is about to go on,” Campbell clarified on Monday. “(Kalif Raymond) Leaf is one of our specialists; he performs a variety of tasks for us, so we consider him to be an integral member of the team. However, we wanted to make sure he became accustomed to our methods and terminology.

We believe that he is a part of this receiving group, and we always want to try to get him a little bit more involved, if you will. Every week, we’re trying to get him just a little bit more. However, we don’t; it’s not as though we see this guy walking on the pitch and expecting him to play 60 plays or anything. He is a part of the receiver room, which makes us feel happy.

Since joining Motown, Peoples-Jones has made an impression on both his teammates and coaching staff. He picked up the playbook fast, and his physicality has several advantages for the squad.

“He has emerged. In a recent SB Nation charity video live, Antwaan Randle El remarked, “What I’ve seen out of him, which is really encouraging, is that he has gotten this game plan out of anything that he could do right now.” “What we’ve taught him, our offence, he’s grasped and comprehended. Changing teams in the middle of the season and having to let go of the past is a major deal. One must remember to keep the new knowledge and not allow it to overshadow the lessons learnt in the past. It makes a big difference.”

Randle El gave Peoples-Jones praise for his flexibility as well. After being acquired by the Lions, the receiver was able to adapt to their game plans quickly because he had experienced multiple coaching changes in Cleveland.

Finding a means to include him in order to help the offence is still a struggle.

“I was really surprised to be inside that and then come here and just pick it up and kind of know it.” This guy really does have it. Thus, that element is the most important thing, but he also needs to be able to execute it on the field, according to Randle El. “You can see a little bit of his behaviour; he has a large build. He has the ability to body up on his slants, short ends, and similar plays. He can even pass the ball down the field. Getting him in is really a matter of time. With the weapons we have, we’re loaded right now, which is a nice thing offensively. We’re bringing him in more and more, hoping to get him some plays.”
