Ryan Lowe: Preston North End manager says team shouldn’t lose hope despite recent struggles

Ryan Lowe, the manager of Preston North End, thinks that considering his team’s standing in the Championship table, there’s no need to fear about their performance.

The Lilywhites are now in ninth place in the league after dropping their last three games.

But Lowe’s team is still only two points shy of the play-off spots.

Prior to the trip to Norwich City on Saturday, Lowe stated to BBC Radio Lancashire, “We need to believe in our ability and believe we can win anywhere.”

“Our situation is still excellent. We know that if we continue to lose games, we will fall in the league. However, there shouldn’t be much of a panic where we are. Yes, we are aware that our three straight losses are unacceptable. However, it’s how we correct it.

“Tottenham Hotspur dropped three straight games. Manchester City has lost one game and drawn three. Teams nationwide are affected by it.”

Preston has dominated the Championship thanks to a run of eight league games played this season without a loss, including six straight victories.

Since September, though, Lowe’s team has struggled mightily, winning just two of their last 12 games. In November, they suffered a crushing 2-1 loss to Cardiff after giving up twice in extra time.

“Regaining our true selves is our primary goal. We were not at all like Middlesbrough for a significant portion of the match. Against QPR, we weren’t very good or ourselves in the second half.

“What I will say is I think the four minutes of madness against Cardiff kicked the stuffing out of us and we haven’t recovered from that just yet.”
