It is now our responsibility to arrange Bob Eales’s funeral. Bob was a longtime committee colleague who was well-liked and unexpectedly died at work last month at the comparatively young age of 63. Bob, as many readers and Sky Blue supporters are aware, was a founding member of the CCFPA committee and has served in numerous capacities within the Association since its founding in December 2006, including Welfare Officer and Membership Secretary. He was consistently amiable, personable, devoted, and diligent in all that he accomplished.

At our yearly set piece events like Legends Day and Golf Day, where he became well-known and respected by a large number of our former player members, Bob was unquestionably Sky Blue. He was also well-loved and well-known by all those he came across in the Sky Blue family of fans, former and current players, and the like. In particular, fans will recall Bob leading our returning players to the Ricoh/CBS centre circle during halftime for the customary Legends Day “team photo” and cheers from the crowd.

Many Sky Blue supporters will undoubtedly want to send their condolences and recollections of a truly wonderful man. Bob’s funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12, 2023, starting at 10.30 a.m. at the Gilroes Crematorium, located at Groby Road, Leicester, LE3 9QG.

Following the ceremony, Bob’s wake will be held in the Sky Blue Tavern, Spon End, Coventry CV1 3JZ, a location that most Sky Blue followers are familiar with.

A wonderful farewell to a great friend of many in the Sky Blue family and a great servant of the Coventry City Former Players Association will undoubtedly be provided by the wake and funeral.
