MLB Trade Rumours: Reds Talking with ‘Multiple Teams’ About Jonathan India

Jonathan India, a second baseman, is apparently still being looked at by the Cincinnati Reds.

Following the signing of infielder Jeimer Candelario by the Yankees, Jon Morosi of MLB Network stated that trade talks involving India “remain active” with various clubs.

Given that he won’t become a free agent until after the 2026 season, India will have several seasons of control remaining. Throughout his career, he has mostly played second base, with a few brief stints as a designated hitter.

India is a professional endeavour.244 hitter with 61 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, and 17 home homers. He won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2021, and he might be a valuable addition to a team trying to lock down second base.

The Reds are not required to move India since they value his leadership qualities, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, but Cincinnati will need to resolve the infield stalemate. The Reds’ infield roster currently includes Candelario in addition to Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Noelvi Marte, Spencer Steer, and India.

Selling high on Steer and bringing in a few prospects or adding pitching depth could be a good option for a team hoping to make a postseason push soon, even though India could be used as a designated hitter and possibly at first base or the outfield.
