According to Gary O’Neil, Wolves wants to increase the depth of their offensive lineup when the January transfer market opens.

Although it has long been known that the team is looking to add a striker and a winger in the transfer window, O’Neil has now officially stated Wolves’ position.

Fabio Silva’s probable departure has them keen to bolster their roster, but they would also be able to play Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha in their more natural positions.

“We may be lacking one or two wide players and attacking players,” O’Neil remarked.

“We haven’t had a player who enjoys playing attackingly on the outside of the pitch since Pedro was out.”

“Rayan (Ait-Nouri) is good and does have quality, so you can use him there a little bit, but Pedro is the only true attacking player on the outside.”

In order to free up some of the other attacking players in their favourite position, a number nine is also added. Cunha is a ten, but Channy may be a ten or off to the side.

“We’ll see, January is typically difficult. There may be some arrivals and departures, but nothing definite to speak about just yet.

Although O’Neil did not rule out Sasa Kalajdzic’s prospects, he did mention that the team is looking to add a new striker. Kalajdzic has also seen his playing time restricted this season.

“There are certain aspects of the game that don’t work for Sasa, but he also has some pretty excellent core talents and things he’s really good at.

“We’re trying to use him when it suits us and in the appropriate circumstances, just like we do with everyone else.

We’ve had to be a little creative in that section of the pitch because we’ve switched things up a little bit with the number nine—sometimes it’s been Sasa, sometimes it’s been Channy.

“Every boy knows his role and does his best effort.

Let’s check back in January. If we are able to take action, number nine would be quite high on the list.
