Myles Garrett, a top player for the Cleveland Browns, filed an appeal of his indefinite suspension on Wednesday after he attacked a player on the pitch. Whether Garrett struck Mason Rudolph, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, with his own helmet last Thursday is not the question.

Rudolph apologised on Wednesday after being fined $35,000 for his involvement in the altercation. “The bottom line is I should’ve done a better job keeping my composure in that situation,” he stated.

Before the incident, Garrett was well-liked by everyone in the league, and he has also expressed regret.

“I know I have to be accountable for what happened, learn from my mistake and I fully intend to do so,” Garrett stated.

The NFL punished him right away, requiring a meeting with the commissioner before the former first overall draft pick of the Browns could be reinstated in the future and suspending him for the rest of the season.

An indefinite suspension, he claimed, would be harsh. He brings up an instance from 2013 in which Antonio Smith swung his helmet at another player, earning him a three-game suspension.

On the sports podcast “Pre-Flight Playbook with Gary Myers,” Commissioner Roger Goodell outlined the expectations for Garrett.

“I believe we’ll decide whether or not he feels regret and whether or not he knows why it’s unacceptable. Does he know what has to be done to ensure that it doesn’t occur again? stated Goodell.

The league has the authority to issue a definitive punishment that may last well into the following season if they determine that an indefinite one is, in fact, illegal. We anticipate hearing from someone later this week.
