The Chicago Bears must keep an eye on all free agent alternatives this summer as they seek to strengthen their squad. The Atlanta Falcons will make significant personnel adjustments as a new head coach approaches. So, who are some Falcons players who could end up joining the Chicago Bears in free agency?
The Atlanta passing game was almost non-existent, but most fans agreed that it was due to the quarterback rather than the wide receivers. On the other hand, the Chicago Bears have a significant need at wide receiver. After D.J. Moore, they are unsure who will be their second or third receiver.
Mack Hollins and Van Jefferson are two names worth considering right now. Hollins would be an ideal substitute for Equanimeous St. Brown. Overall, this would be an improvement over St. Brown.
Hollins does the same things. He blocks, plays special teams, and executes routes that open up room for other wideouts without drawing penalties. Beyond that, he is a little more productive. He has 961 yards in the last two years, while St. Brown has 385 yards.
Another name to look for is Van Jefferson. Jefferson was moved from the Rams and did not have much success with the Falcons. Still, Shane Waldron knows him from their time together with the Rams, and at the very least, he should be hired to compete with Tyler Scott for the slot job, given that Scott did nothing this year to enter training camp without competition.
