One member of the Washington Commanders is taking a jab at Cowboys standout Micah Parsons after the team hired Dan Quinn as head coach.

Wide receiver Jahan Dotson reacted to Quinn’s hire by inviting Parsons to join the Commanders. Parsons had previously quipped that Quinn “may take me with him” if the former Dallas defensive coordinator accepted a head coaching position somewhere.

When Parsons made the joke, he presumably had no idea Quinn would be hired by a division opponent. Of course, he wasn’t serious in the first place, but he still provided Dotson with a good opportunity for a recruiting pitch. Parsons may contemplate the switch if it meant getting a few more calls, but most likely not.

Ex Falcons head coach Dan Quinn once again a hot commodity

Dotson and Parsons had played together at Penn State from 2018 to 2020, so Dotson was just waiting for his moment. Finally, Quinn will be tasked with making the Commanders a contender while also finding tactics to slow down Parsons.

Ron Rivera is open to working as a defensive coordinator in the NFL next season after being sacked by the Washington Commanders, and he might join one of his old team’s division rivals.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Dallas Cowboys are interested in Rivera as their defensive coordinator if Dan Quinn leaves for another job. Ironically, Quinn was hired on Thursday to replace Rivera as Washington’s head coach.

After the Quinn news broke, reports circulated that Rivera is a candidate to become Dallas’ defensive coordinator.

Rivera, 62, applied for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coordinator position, but Vic Fangio was hired instead.

Rivera’s previous defensive coordinator role was with the San Diego Chargers in 2010. That season, the squad led the NFL in total defense, which boosted Rivera’s chances of becoming a head coach. He was later hired as head coach of the Carolina Panthers.

Rivera coached the Panthers for more than eight years.
