It has been widely anticipated that Jay Harbaugh, the son of newly hired Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, will join his father’s coaching staff on the AFC West squad. A report suggests that may not be the case after all.
It was reported on Friday by Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports that Jay Harbaugh’s hire by the Chargers is not finalised. According to Zenitz, the Seattle Seahawks are considering employing him as well.
In 2021, when both were on the Wolverines’ staff, Harbaugh collaborated with Mike Macdonald, the new head coach of the Seahawks.
Since 2017, Jay Harbaugh has become Michigan’s special teams coordinator after working under his father’s direction for the previous nine years. When the older Harbaugh made the decision to leave Michigan and rejoin the NFL, the 34-year-old was anticipated to assume the same position with the Chargers.
Jay Harbaugh took over as Michigan’s special teams coordinator in 2017 after nine years of working under his father’s tutelage. The 34-year-old Harbaugh was expected to take over the same role with the Chargers once the elder Harbaugh decided to leave Michigan and return to the NFL.
