Iowa Football and Lincoln-Way East High have had a long-standing partnership. Adam Gettis, a graduate of Frankfort High School in Illinois, joined the Hawkeyes nearly two decades ago, and 2024 offensive lineman Josh Janowski signed with them last month. Trey Zvonar, a junior tight end, was aware of that history while attending an Iowa junior day this past weekend. During the visit, he saw similarities between Lincoln Way East and Iowa. “Iowa would be a wonderful fit because it’s similar to how my school holds us accountable,” Zvonar told HN. “Many Lincoln-Way East players have visited Iowa and enjoyed it. “It also has a deep tight-end tradition.

Zvonar noted that the Hawkeye culture stood out to him during his visit. “Being there with the coaches and staff was fantastic. “Everyone was fantastic, and it just felt like an incredible place to be,” Zvonar added.

According to Max Preps, Zvonar caught 14 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns across eight games last fall. His junior highlights demonstrated his versatility as a dangerous receiver who can line up in a variety of positions based on formation. He demonstrated that he is a willing and capable blocker, with room to improve in that area of the game as he grows physically. Zvonar (6-4, 215) has received scholarship offers from a half-dozen MAC colleges and many FCS programs. He respects the Hawkeyes’ communication about where he is with them. “The discussions with (tight end) coach Abdul Hodge and the other coaches were excellent. They advised me to be patient because they were a prolonged procedure. They observe my progress and will.

Northwestern is in regular contact with Zvonar, he stated. He also maintains regular communication with Illinois, Michigan State, Miami (Ohio), and Toledo. “I’ll be visiting more schools this spring,” he stated. Zvonar is thinking about studying in finance when he gets to college. “I heard it’s really delicious in Iowa,” he remarked.
