Despite having played for three different NBA clubs, Kevin Durant’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors is most likely to be remembered. People may occasionally be reminded of his championships with the team and wonder why he abandoned such a fantastic opportunity to win more.

Regarding his reasons for leaving the Warriors, Kevin Durant was extremely open in his response to Michael Lee of The Washington Post.

About departing Golden State, Durant remarked, “It was another pivot.” All I wanted was to go play ball somewhere else. However, many perceive it as me pursuing something. And I believe that’s probably because of what I stated when I said, “I want to stop being number two.” In the high school draft, I ranked second. However, I had to clarify to everyone that I had recently lost in the championship game. My goal was to return and triumph in the Finals. It was not about wanting to be the greatest person ever. My goal is to surpass both LeBron James and Michael Jordan. It’s not a big deal to me. I want to do what I do when I wake up every day.I want to do what I do when I wake up every day. I understand that things come with becoming the best version of myself if we win.

Durant still maintains affection for the Warriors and his old colleagues even after he parted ways with Steph Curry and the organisation.

He says, “That’s my family over there.” It will still be love even if I play for the Brooklyn Nets and you guys play for the Golden State Warriors. I benefit from their success because I will always be a part of their history.

Kevin Durant wants to create history with the Brooklyn Nets, and they have an opportunity to accomplish so this season. Durant did so with the Golden State Warriors.
