The Oakland Raiders prepare for their Week 3 game against the Washington Redskins, and they appear to be recovering well from their early-season ailments.
Sebastian Janikowski was placed on the injured reserve list just before Oakland’s Week 1 game, but it appears that all of the Raiders’ injured players have recovered, and the team enters the Washington game with only one player on the list
The Oakland Raiders entered the week with seven players on the injured reserve list. Six of those players were not listed in the Raiders’ final injury report on Friday. On the defensive side of the ball, Gareon Conley (CB) exercised fully on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday, while Keith McGill II (DB) practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday but was not reported as practicing on Friday. Both players were officially removed off the injury list on Friday
On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Jared Cook (shoulder) worked in limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday but fully on Friday. Wide receiver Amari Cooper (knee) and running back DeAndre Washington (hamstring) both workedWorked in full on Friday after being limited the previous two days. Jamize Olawale, a fullback and running back, practiced all week.
Cooper hasn’t missed a game this season despite being labeled as injured, and he’s caught nine passes for 95 yards and one touchdown in two games. Jared Cook has also played both games this season, totaling nine receptions for 81 yards. Both are expected to return to the field as starters.
Sean Smith
Cornerback Sean Smith is the sole player still listed on the Raiders’ injury report. Despite his doubtful status, he practiced fully on Wednesday and Friday, but was limited on Thursday. Smith is a starting cornerback who performed well against the Tennessee Titans in the season opener. Smith suffered a neck injury and missed the team’s Week 2 game. There is excellent news for Raiders fans:Head coach Jack Del Rio stated that if “likely” remained an option on the injury report, Smith would be categorized as such.
The Washington Redskins had 11 players on the injured list when the week began, and five were still listed as questionable on Friday. Two of the injuries were to key players. Josh Norman is the biggest superstar (shoulder). He was limited in practice all week due to an AC joint strain sustained in the win over the Los Angeles Rams. Norman stated that he intends to participate in this game nonetheless, emphasizing that he wants to be on the field during primetime games.
Jordan Reed, tight end, is the second largest question mark. He has been one of the NFL’s top tight ends in recent years despite suffering rib and sternum injuries. He suffered injuries against the Rams, but he stated that he intends to play. However, it will ultimately be a game-time decision.
Finally, Rob Kelley is questionable due to a rib issue. If he is unable to play this weekend, youngster Samaje Perine is set to start. Other Redskins players who have been injured include linebacker Mason Foster (shoulder) and safety Montae Nicholson.
