The 6-foot senior guard scored 42 points in a 75-71 victory over Miami on Monday, breaking the Dean Smith Center record set 38 years earlier. Davis scored the most points by a North Carolina player since 1998, and he outscored his teammates by nine points, the first time a Tar Heels player has done so since Michael Jordan in 1983. Davis made 14 of 22 shots, including 7 of 11 from beyond the arc. He then scored 14 points in a win over North Carolina State, passing Brad Daugherty for 10th on North Carolina’s all-time scoring chart.
Baylor Scheierman attends Creighton. In two wins last week, the 6-7 senior averaged 23 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Scheierman scored 20 points and 11 rebounds in an 85-64 victory over Seton Hall, then added 26 points and 16 rebounds in an 89-75 victory against No. 8 Marquette. He is third in the Big East in scoring (18.5 points per game) and second in rebounding (8.9 per game).
Dalton Knecht, Tennessee. The Vols are on track to win their first SEC title under coach Rick Barnes, and Knecht has played an important role in that success. The 6-6 senior scored 39 points and went 5 of 8 from 3-point range in a 92-84 victory against No. 13 Auburn, coming off a 13-point performance against No. 16 Alabama. Knecht and the Vols can capture their first regular-season title in six years with victories against No. 17 South Carolina and No. 15 Kentucky this week.
