Emergency services were called to New Road in Bournemouth after a BMW collided with a Skoda Citigo.
Roadblocks were placed near the junction of Avebury Avenue.
However, the Skoda driver, a guy in his 70s, was pronounced dead on the scene.
His family has been alerted, according to police.
At 10.49 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, Dorset Police received a complaint of a collision between a Skoda Citigo and a BMW on New Road near the junction with Avebury Avenue.
Officers are now seeking to anyone who witnessed the accident at around 10.49 a.m. to come forward.
Police sergeant Mike Burt of the traffic section stated: “First and foremost, our sympathies are with the loved ones of the individual who tragically died in this tragedy.
“An investigation is underway to determine what happened, and I would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken with authorities.
“I’d also like to speak with any motorists who were in the area and may have captured anything relevant on dashcam film.”
“Finally, I’d like to thank the people for their patience and understanding throughout the road closures.”
