While the Green Bay Packers and their supporters can’t wait for the upcoming Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears, some extremely terrible news broke on Wednesday.

According to a press statement from the Packers, former standout center and two-time Super Bowl winner Ken Bowman died at the age of 81.

The cause of Bowman’s death has yet to be revealed.
For those unfamiliar with Bowman, he was an important part of the Packers’ offense prior to the Super Bowl era in 1965. Following that season, he played a major role in Green Bay’s first two Super Bowl victories.

The Packers released a memory of Bowman that many may have seen and are familiar with.

“He is perhaps best known for snapping the ball to Bart Starr and providing a block on the Hall of Fame quarterback’s game-winning 1-yard touchdown sneak in the “Ice Bowl,” the Packers’ 21-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in a 1967 NFL championship game with a kickoff temperature of minus-13 degrees Fahrenheit.”

Bowman played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers before continuing his career in-state with the Packers. He was selected in the eighth round of the 1964 draft.
