A familiar figure on the 49ers’ defensive line will reportedly stay in the Bay for at least one more season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that defensive tackle Kevin Givens, who signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2019, is returning to San Francisco on a one-year contract in NFL free agency.

Givens has appeared in 57 regular-season games and started 13 of them, totaling 79 tackles (45 solo), three passes defended, and 12 quarterback hits. During the 2023 NFL season, the 27-year-old started one game against the Arizona Cardinals and recorded four tackles, including one for loss.

Givens secured successive one-year contract extensions with San Francisco in 2022 and 2023, and he appears to have continued that trend this summer, returning as a vital depth component along the 49ers’ defensive line.
