According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Vikings will sign former Rams defensive lineman Jonah Williams (not to be confused with the Cardinals’ offensive tackle of the same name). Williams traveled to Minnesota on Monday. He was supposed to visit Arizona on Tuesday, but that won’t happen. In November 2021, the Vikings’ previous regime claimed Williams off waivers from the Rams, but he failed his medical and was waived the next day. He ended up rejoining the Rams’ practice squad less than a week later. There should be no problems with Williams joining the Vikings this time.

Williams, who turns 29 this summer, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020 after graduating from FCS Weber State. He made his NFL debut in 2021 and has seen increased playing time in each of the previous two seasons. Williams played 17 games for the Rams last season (including playoffs), totaling 636 defensive snaps after increasing from 97 in ’21 to 342 in ’22.

Williams, a 6’5″, 275-pound defensive lineman, can line up as a 3-4 DE or DT. Last year, he recorded 49 tackles, four TFL, two sacks, 17 pressures, and a PFF rating of 53.7. He adds another solid rotational player to Brian Flores’ defensive line. Williams played with new Vikings defensive line coach Marcus Dixon in 2021.
