After his final game on Sunday, Miguel Cabrera will continue to work for the Detroit Tigers as a Special Assistant to the President of Baseball Operations.

Even though Miguel Cabrera will be retiring in a few days, the Detroit Tigers will not be losing him just yet.

After the team’s game against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, the team announced on Friday that Cabrera will work in the front office as the President of Baseball Operations’ Special Assistant.

The Tigers have previously disclosed the pregame ceremonies, fan giveaways, and special farewells they will be holding in honor of Cabrera during his final homestand in Detroit.

When Cabrera first joined the Tigers in 2008, he has participated in 2,074 games. Cabrera played for the Miami Marlins for the first five seasons of his Major League Baseball career before that.

In his career, Cabrera has amassed the most hits of any current player with 3,170, 511 home runs, 624 doubles, 1,880 RBI, and 1,550 runs. The future Hall of Famer, two-time MVP, 12-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger, and.306 hitter has a.900 OPS since his 2003 debut.

The 10-year, $292 million deal that Cabrera signed with the Tigers in 2014 is now in its final year.
