Bill Cowher feels that Deion Sanders’ proposal for the Hall of Fame is offensive.

Bill Cowher is aware that not all members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame are created equal. The differences across eras are still up for debate, but there are certain in-game accomplishments that distinguish some players from others.
Despite this, Cowher continues to feel that Deion Sanders’ suggestion to create a “upper room” is disrespectful to the Hall. No distinct tiers, and maintain Canton’s status quo.

On The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday, Cowher stated, “I think we all understand there were some terrific players and coaches in there that, you know, what they did was probably more than what you did.”

“However, I believe that your accomplishments merited recognition as one of the finest in your field. And who is to determine the standards by which you are classified in that additional component?

“Hey, we can all identify this as Deion Sanders. first vote. I believe that everyone is aware of the players on the first ballot. I believe it would be disrespectful to the honor to declare there to be a first class and a second class once we are inside.”

Ever since his induction, Sanders has been a strong proponent of and outspoken leader for modifications to the Hall. To fully appreciate how exceptional a player was in his era, distinct areas are only fitting. When you break it all down, it’s easy to see why Canton residents would want to take a different course in the future.
