Still in our heart big star…
Vontae Davis, a former NFL player and Miami Dolphin, was discovered dead
on Monday inside a mansion in Southwest Ranches, according to the authorities.
Southwest Ranches-based Davie Police stated the 35-year-old former NFL
player’s body was discovered in a house in the 6000 block of Southwest 178th Avenue.
According to police, initial data indicates that foul play was not suspected.
Several police officers could be seen outside the expansive house, which has a
lengthy driveway and a sizable rear pool, in aerial footage from Chopper 6.
According to property records, the house is owned by the former NFL star’s
grandmother, Adaline Davis. The nearly 6,500-square-foot mansion with five
bedrooms and six bathrooms was last sold in 2018 for approximately $3.9
million, according to records.
In the 2009 Draft, Davis was chosen by the Dolphins with the 25th overall
choice, out of the University of Illinois. The three years he was with the team
ended in 2012 when he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts. He participated
in the NFL for seven more seasons, receiving two Pro Bowl selections in 2014
and 2015.
The Dolphins posted a statement on social media stating, “We are grieved by
the sudden demise of former Dolphins CB Vontae Davis and express our
sincere condolences to his family & loved ones during this terrible time.”
Cornerback Davis retired in 2018 while playing for the Buffalo Bills. Vernon
Davis, the younger brother of the two-time NFL Pro Bowl tight end Vernon
Davis, played for San Francisco, Denver, and Washington.
Upon hearing of Davis’ passing, the Bills expressed their sadness and said they
were “thinking of his friends, family, and loved ones during this terrible time.”
When Vontae Davis was arrested on suspicion of DUI last year after a collision
on Florida’s Turnpike in Hollywood, the news was widely reported.
Pictures from the collision, which left Davis’ Tesla completely destroyed,
appeared to show him dozing off on the side of the road.
