On Monday an abandoned vehicle was reported to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office in a field. Investigators determined the car, a 2001 white Dodge Durango, was owned by 83-year-old Roy Foster Jackson out of Florence, AL.

Officials say Jackson was last seen near his home in Florence on April 7 soon thereafter Jackson’s sister filed a missing person report. Jackson is reported to have dementia and diabetes.

Lauderdale County Officials believe Jackson got into his car, started driving, got lost and kept driving. Jackson’s bank card was tracked and it was shown that the last time it was used was April 9. Video surveillance showed video of him along the path of where his bank card showed up so officials believe he was the one using it.

After his vehicle was found, a preliminary search was conducted of the nearby area by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office but nothing relating to Jackson was found.

Over the last three days, officials have been actively looking for Jackson and an alert has been issued for him.
